REMINDERS for the week of May 10

Teacher Appreciation  Week  Thank you to our wonderful PTL for a week full of treats and surprises!  What a blessing to us all to have such caring school families and students!  We are very grateful for all your support and prayers throughout the year.

7th & 8th Class Trip   We are planning a great day trip to Camp Lutherlyn near Prospect to experience a customized Environmental Education Program on Friday, May 14.  Important info is coming home today that requires  your attention—a Covid-19 release form and Lutherlyn parent note with rules and guidelines.  The day should be an adventure full of hands-on learning, fun, and a few surprises!  Return your permission slip by Wednesday, May 12.

2021-22 School Calendar   For your planning purposes, attached is next year’s school calendar which was approved by School Board at their May meeting last week.

Justice at St. Luke  One of Butler County’s newest officers came to visit our school today.  Justice, a 2-year-old German wirehaired pointer with handler Sgt. Harry Callithen showed the students how together they perform their special duties.  Justice is trained to be a sniffing and tracking dog and is used to detect drugs and assist in cases of missing persons.  We had fun meeting Justice and Sgt. Callithen, and learned a lot, too!

Confirmation Class of 2021   Celebrating the rite of confirmation at St. Luke this Saturday evening are 8th graders Amelia Crosby, Dylan Edwards, and Emme Mrozek.  They will stand with their class of seven confirmands and profess their faith as they Identify themselves as unique and special parts of the body of Christ, as Lutherans, and members of St. Luke Church.  Congratulations and God’s blessings to you on this next step in your journey of faith.

PTL Officers   We are looking for candidates for new officers for next school year.  If you would like to volunteer as an officer or co-officer, or serve on any PTL committee, please call or email rrankin88@gmail.com or stlukeschool@stlukecabot.org.  Our next meeting is tonight, Monday, May 10 at 6:30 PM.

Track & Field Day   On Friday, May 28 the 3rd-8th graders will participate with the Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Schools in our (mostly) annual athletic event, this year at Penn Hills High School.  We will NOT be operating the lunch stand this year.  Gatorade ($1.50) and bottled water ($1.00) and a few small snacks will be available to purchase.  EVERYONE ATTENDING MUST BRING A BAG LUNCH.

Summer Camps at St. Luke   Several great camps are being offered this summer at St. Luke.  There is something for all kids from preschoolers through age 15.  Sign up now—register online!  For more info or questions please contact Brenda Fett at 724-352-2221 or bfett@stlukecabot.org
